Building an Intelligent Grounding Network and Building a Smart Substation ENRELY to Assist

2024-06-14

Sinopec Group in creating a new generation of substation management system

The IGES intelligent ground grid early warning and defense system, independently developed by ENRELY, has been successfully determined to be applied in the construction of the 110kV substation for the electrical comprehensive automation system of the 1.2 million tons/year ethylene and downstream high-end new materials industry cluster project in Tianjin Nangang, Sinopec Group Tianjin Branch.

At present, the construction of smart grids in China has become a national strategy, and smart substations are one of the core platforms in the strong construction of smart grids. Smart substations have evolved from digital substations. After years of development, the intelligent integration technology of ground primary and secondary equipment has been gradually improved. However, the intelligent process of grounding network, which serves as the foundation for safe and reliable operation and personal safety of substations, has been lagging behind.

The grounding grid of a substation is a fundamental guarantee and important measure for maintaining the safe and reliable operation of the power system, ensuring the safety of operators and electrical equipment. The grounding grid, as the only way for various equipment grounding, cable grounding, and lightning protection grounding in substations, plays a crucial role in the safe operation of the system. While meeting the electrical performance requirements of the power system operation, it reduces the destructive impact of lightning strikes on the power system and equipment, ensures that the insulation performance of power equipment is not damaged by reactive overvoltage, provides the normal working voltage required for relay protection and automatic devices, and ensures that workers are not injured by the step voltage and contact voltage generated by the grounding current on the ground surface under fault conditions.

The vast majority of electrical safety accidents that occur in substations are directly related to grounding, such as various grounding faults and short circuit faults of cables and electrical equipment, lightning accidents caused by unqualified grounding devices, secondary weak current systems being affected by grounding interference and overvoltage issues.

The IGES intelligent grounding network early warning and defense system can compensate for the blind spots in monitoring and protection of the substation grounding network, and is a comprehensive early warning and defense system that realizes digital and intelligent management of the substation grounding network. IGES can provide real-time online monitoring and waveform recording from multiple points and dimensions, comprehensively monitoring system grounding safety hazards, with warning functions and the ability to actively defend against grounding related safety hazards.

IGES combines multiple leading domestic and foreign technologies, including advanced algorithms such as micro current improved FFT intelligent analysis, large-span data collection and integration, active suppression of ground potential counterattack, intelligent overvoltage blocking, electronic interference countermeasures, and other patented technologies. Through innovative methods such as dual end monitoring and parallel rotation, combined with expert systems developed with independent property rights, it is an indispensable component for achieving intelligent and safe and reliable operation of substations.
